When I was a kid, I dreamt about adventures, about travelling the world, becoming the next Indiana Jones or international spy like James Bond. I even dreamt of becoming an astronaut and travelling to other planets. My Christmas wish list was endless: horses, a swimming pool in my tiny bedroom, being able to fly, and countless others. As silly as it sounds, who hasn’t had such wild dreams and fantasies when young. The thing is life goes on and 30 years later, I found myself working 14 hours a day in an office in the financial world, far away from my purpose, far away from my dreams. What happened to me?
My journey is a normal one. I was born in Madrid, Spain raised in a middle-class family. In my country, there is an expected route for many to follow. People are expected go to school, get good marks, study in university, secure a job, get married, have a house, and have kids. These were what was expected from me. I was following an established mantra that seemed to dominate my life. Follow the status quo, do what your family/society expect from you, do what the average person does, don’t stand out. Doesn’t this sound familiar?
I was following this expected path until my late 20’s, when I decided to make a surprising move. While everyone was seemingly living their dreams in my country, I decided to move away. Australia was my next stop. Suddenly, I was away from family, could not speak the local language, and was gripped by a mix of fear and excitement. Honestly, my experience in Australia wasn’t as planned. There were challenges at work and I experienced the breakdown of a marriage. I soon realised that moving away to another country was not the solution. No matter where one goes, your issues will still be there. The answer was not external, but instead within. It was in myself.
Knowing this, I started a new, more internal journey, a long one of self-discovery. I wanted to get a clear understanding of what I wanted in life. Through it, I realized how to know myself, how to accept my strengths and weakness, and how to simply love being me. In 2015, I started coaching people, assisting people to live their dreams. I’m obsessed with personal development. Since then, I have assisted countless individuals in the path towards achieving their dreams. It’s a great feeling when after a few coaching sessions, you see clients change a career of 20 years to follow their real passion. Some of my clients have started successful businesses after just a few coaching sessions. Others have stayed in the same careers, but have increased their salaries by several times in a few months. All of this was achieved just by changing their mindset.
We created KZ Coaching to assist people to find their purpose. We wanted to help people start their dreams again and make them real. If you are reading this, it may mean that you are like us.
